I was on my bike one day and stopped for the red light on 22nd street and 7th ave when I noticed the two buildings in front of me.
One the closer one across the street was an old building that was boarded up in typical fashion waiting for demolition when in the background to the East and new "pencil building" was being built. I saw these two in the same frame and it make me think of the passing of time and how it shows up in New York City as the old buildings are torn down to be replaced with the new ones.
I've painted various versions of this scene.
As of this writing (April 2021) the old building is still making its stand and hasn't been razed yet.
